On 30 June the veteran Scarborough pleasure vessel Coronia (1935/75gt) paid a surprise visit to the port of Goole on the Humber.
Coronia's voyage away from her home moorings was for
the residents of the village of Swinefleet near Goole to view, from the
water, the new flood defence work that has been undertaken on the banks
of the river Ouse.
Built by Fellows & Son, Great Yarmouth as Brit II, Caronia later served in World War II as the patrol vessel HMS Watchful between September 1939 and July 1945.
In 1951 she was renamed Yorkshire Lady and later in 1968 she became Coronia II.
A final name change in 1969 saw her name shortened to Coronia and since then she has served the holidaymakers at Scarborough running trips from the harbour.
In 1985 she sailed to Gibralter to run trips, but returned to Scarborough two years later.
