Two new X-Bows

Middle East shipbuilder delivers the first two seismic vessels

Polarcus Nadia

Middle East shipbuilder Drydocks World Dubai has delivered the first two of six seismic vessels it is building for Polarcus, a new shipowner specialising in seismic services based in Dubai.

The twin vessels Polarcus Nadia and Polarcus Naila incorporate the Ulstein-developed X-Bow hull shape, and each vessel has been fitted with a 3D seismic system and 12 streamer winches.

The next ships in the series to be built are Polarcus Samur, Polarcus Selma, Polarcus Alima and Polarcus Asima, all of which will have X-Bows and be operational by the second half of 2010.

Polarcus Nadia, the first to enter service, has been chartered by TGS- NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA for a three-month period, with options to extend the charter in two six-month increments.
